Convergent evolution of the car speed curve

If the curve for the development of cars’ top speed had converged with the curve for the number of calculations per second in a PC processor over the last 25 years, we would today have cars that could drive approximately 45,000,000,000,000 km/h. That’s the equivalent of driving a trip to the sun in about 15 minutes.

Letters and stars

If you built a bookshelf from the ground to the sun, 1000 stories high, and filled it with books, the number of letters would equal the number of stars we know today.
