Where does the thong come from?

G-strings probably originally came from strippers in the 1930s USA. However, it wasn’t until the 1970s and 1980s when clothing designer Rudi Gernreich “invented” the thong for Brazilian dancers in 1974 that it was no longer reserved for American strippers.
