How is the word night used?

When night is described in relation to a day of the week, for example “Monday night”, it refers to the night between that day and the next. Conversely, Christmas night is the night before Christmas Day.

The different populations of world history

In the year 0, the Earth was populated by around 300 million people; 1000 years later, the world’s population had grown by 10 million, but after the Middle Ages, growth accelerated. In 1500, the number was 500 million and in 1800 it was one billion. In 2007, there were approximately 5.8 billion people on earth and in 2009 we had reached 6.5 billion.

Transformation from airliner to bomber?

In 1913, Igor Sikorsky had developed a four-engine passenger plane Ilya Muromets for 16 passengers, with a bathroom. At the outbreak of war, the planes were converted into strategic bombers and could bomb Germany relatively unhindered. Eventually, German fighters posed a threat to the bombers and in 1916 they were withdrawn.

How many drugs did EU countries seize in 1995?

In 1995, the 15 EU countries together seized almost 30 tons of heroin and cocaine, over 700 tons of hashish, 1.5 tons of amphetamines, 2.5 million ecstasy pills and over half a million doses of LSD. It is currently estimated that no more than 10% of the drugs on the market are detected.
