Mary Shelly kept her late husband’s heart

Mary Shelly (the author of Frankenstein) kept her late husband’s heart and carried it around for almost 30 years until her death in 1985. The heart was found in a desk drawer a year later, where it was wrapped in one of Mary Shelly’s last poems.

Charlotte Dod, a multi-talent

British Charlotte Dod won the Wimbledon tennis championship five times, the British women’s golf championship once, silver in archery at the 1908 Olympics and she represented England at the 1899 Hockey World Cup. She was also an excellent ice skater.
